Problem installing neo4j gem with rails 3.1.0.rc6

Reported by Rama Manusama | August 21st, 2011 @ 02:18 AM

I got this error message when executing bundle install on my application:

Fetching source index for http://rubygems.org/
Could not find gem 'neo4j (= 1.2.0, runtime)' in any of the gem sources listed in your Gemfile.

Which is kinda strange since I successfully installed the gem manually using 'jruby -S gem install neo4j' command

Here is my gemfile

source 'http://rubygems.org'

# Core
gem 'rails', '3.1.0.rc6'
gem 'neo4j', '1.2.0'
gem 'json'

group :assets do
  gem 'sass-rails', "~> 3.1.0.rc"
  gem 'coffee-rails', "~> 3.1.0.rc"
  gem 'uglifier'

# Javascript

gem 'omniauth',">= 0.2.6"
gem 'oauth2'

gem 'validate_url'
gem 'typhoeus'
gem 'nokogiri', "~> 1.4.2"
gem 'sanitize'

# Server

# Development and Testing

gem 'rspec-rails', "~> 2.6", :group => [:test, :development]
gem "guard-rspec" , :group => [:test, :development]

group :development do

  gem 'guard-sprockets'
  gem 'railroad' #nice diagram automation, word
  gem 'nifty-generators'
  gem 'hpricot'
  gem 'ruby_parser'

group :test do

  gem "database_cleaner"
  gem "factory_girl_rails"
  gem "capybara"
  gem 'turn', :require => false
  gem "mocha"

Fyi, I am using jruby 1.6.2 (tried 1.6.3 but does not work as well)

    I also tried to fetch from github

    gem 'neo4j', '1.2.0', :git => 'git://github.com/andreasronge/neo4j.git'

    which responds

    Could not find gem 'neo4j (= 1.2.0, runtime)' in https://github.com/andreasronge/neo4j (at master).
    Source contains 'neo4j' at: 1.2.0

    but there is no branch called '1.2.0'?

    Update: For temp solution, I installed gem manually and it works for now.

    • Assigned user set to “Andreas Ronge”
    • State changed from “new” to “resolved”

    Closing this because it might be solved using newer jruby (1.6.5) or neo4j (upcomming 1.3.0)

* Mapping of ruby objects to nodes in networks rather than in tables.
* Storage of ruby object to a file system.
* Fast traversal of relationships between nodes in a hugh node space.
